A city bus crashed into a vehicle and briefly blocked the number-one lanes at the southbound 405 Freeway and southbound 110 Freeway near Gardena, according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident report site.
The accident occurred at 6:44 a.m. and resulted in no injuries, said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi. The bus and vehicle have pulled onto the right shoulder.
Los Angeles County Fire Department units are responding to a small brush fire reported at 6:54 a.m. near the westbound 91 Freeway and the 605 Freeway in Cerritos.
It is the third time today that county fire units are responding to the area, said Kyle Sanford, Supervising Fire Dispatcher for the fire department. Units responded earlier this morning to reports of brush fires in the area. They
determined the fires were set at homeless encampments.
Despite a county-wide red-flag warning, Sanford said there is little danger of the fires getting out of hand.
“There’s only so much that can burn there, trees and shrubs along the freeway,” he said. “We’re clearing these within 15 or 20 minutes.”
Traffic on other Long Beach and South Bay area freeways is showing typical rush hour patterns.
The northbound 405 Freeway is busy from the 710 Freeway to just before the 10 Freeway. Speeds range from the 40s and 50s, to the teens.
The westbound 105 Freeway is showing busy spots from the 605 Freeway interchange to Crenshaw Boulevard, and the northbound 710 Freeway is busy from the 91 Freeway to Firestone Boulevard with speeds in 20s and 40s.
