Young drivers tend to be more prone to accidents than those with more experience. Drivers in Southern California are particularly at risk, given the constantly busy roads. An early morning car accident recently left four young people injured and one teenager dead.

The accident took place in Bellflower. According to reports, the 22-year-old driver was on Rosecrans Avenue in the vicinity of Lakewood Boulevard. While it was not immediately available in what kind of car the group of five was traveling, the driver apparently had hit a curb, and the vehicle flipped over. The vehicle reportedly had enough momentum to carry it off the road so that it crashed into a tree.

It was not stated in the report whether the

occupants were wearing their seatbelts or whether the airbags deployed, but four of the five people in the vehicle were ejected from the vehicle. They were all transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. A 17-year-old boy who was apparently riding in the backseat was at first in critical condition, but then he passed away.

The other four people were all expected to recover from their injuries. The driver was arrested on a charge of vehicular manslaughter, and authorities have indicated that both speed and alcohol likely factored into the car accident. The family of the boy who died has the right under California law to file a wrongful death suit against the driver for his negligent actions. Financial compensation may be awarded for pain and suffering and loss of companionship, along with burial costs and final expenses.
