Get to know us

We understand that you may worry about mounting bills from firms of solicitors. We worry about you being advised by non-qualified, unregulated companies. At cphSolicitors we provide the highest level of expertise from a STEP qualified solicitor whilst at the same time keeping the overheads to a minimum. This allows us to work on fixed fees and pass this saving directly to you.

Collette Hodkinson Bsc. TEP

Collette has a strong academic background. She studied Physics at undergraduate level in Cardiff. She went on to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course in Manchester. After becoming a qualified solicitor she knew very quickly that she wanted to specialise in the area of law that is sometimes referred to as Private Client. Her specialist area comprises of Trusts, Estates, Wills, Inheritance Tax and Incapacity Management. Collette is passionate about giving her clients the very best of advice and she decided to study for the STEP (Society of Estate Practitioners) Diploma. This took her a further two years and she is now a full member of STEP and can use the initials TEP after her name.

What does being TEP mean? It means she is recognised as an expert in this field of law. She is one of a group of the most experienced and senior

practitioners in the field of trusts and estates. It gives you, as a potential client, the confidence and peace of mind that Collette has reached the exacting standards required by STEP.

However qualification is not enough. Collette realises that understanding complex issues might be important but what is very important to you as a potential client is her ability to explain legal complexities. She prides herself on this ability. Many of Collette’s clients have commented after meeting with her that they thought it would “all be over their heads “but she was able to explain it very satisfactorily to them. Others after meeting Collette to discuss Probate have said that they didn’t expect to find themselves laughing during the appointment but they had.

Going to see a Solicitor should not be a frightening experience. At the end of the day Collette is providing you with a service. You should not be worried about passing the time of day with a solicitor as you are being charged by the hour. Collette is very happy to take work on a fixed fee. If it takes a particular client longer to grasp a technical point then so be it. What is important is that each and every client, irrespective of age, is happy with the service they receive from Collette.
